About The District Singers
This Choir was formed in 1989. The initiative for its foundation came from a group of Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Sutherland and was known as ”The 9750 Singers” from Rotary District 9750.
With our members now mostly not associated directly with Rotary, the name of the Choir was changed to “The District Singers”. In 2015 we became incorporated and our name is registered as “The District Singers Inc.”
We meet for rehearsal at Gymea Baptist Church, 2-10 Tea Gardens Avenue, Kirrawee, on every Tuesday between 6.00pm to 8.00pm, with a 15 minutes tea break. We do not meet during School Holidays, but extra rehearsals may be scheduled if necessary.
The Choir performs for the enjoyment of residents in Aged Care Facilities, Retirement Villages and other non profit groups. Performances are mostly held during the day.
New members can attend the first two rehearsals without payment, to assess their continued participation. Payment of term fees commences when you become a member. A Fee of $60.00 per school term is payable by all members.
Laura Bishop is our musical director.
Come along and give it a try, all you need is a love of music and singing.
